JESS BEYER
About the Artist
Jess Beyer is a costume designer originally from New Jersey and currently based in New York, NY.
She graduated from Concordia University in Montreal with a BFA in Design for the Theatre in 2019. Prior to that, she attended the Fashion Institute of Technology where she graduated with an AAS in Fashion Design in 2017.
After working as a costume and fashion designer in Montreal post-graduation, she moved to New York City in 2021 to work at The Juilliard School as a Costume Design Apprentice. Since completing the apprenticeship in spring 2022, Jess has been working as a freelance designer and technician.
Last summer she designed As You Like It with Shakespeare on the Sound, A Midsummer Night's Circus with Circus Smirkus, and Dear Jack, Dear Louise at the Virginia Theatre Festival.
Most recently, she designed The Glass Menagerie with The Hanover Theatre Repertory, and two dance pieces for Hofstra University's Fall Dance Concert. She also recently finished working on the Broadway revival of Monty Python's Spamalot as the Costume DMC.
Though costume design is her first love, Jess is a multifaceted artist. She enjoys exploring the practices of textile printing and dyeing, costume crafting, embroidery, jewelry making, ceramics, hair and makeup, painting, and photography.
Even with her prior engagements, Jess is always looking for her new projects and challenges. Her passion for costumes has yet to find its limit.
